March Mammal Madness (MMM) is a tournament that asks the timeless question, “Which animal would win in a fight?” For over a decade, a team of ecologists has been creating MMM tournament brackets with some unconventional matchups and using science and math to determine who wins – and it’s not just mammals anymore. With over a million players worldwide, the phenomenon is finally coming to AACC this spring, sponsored by the Environmental Center!
Anyone can play the game, and there are prizes! Each player will fill out a tournament bracket and submit their bracket online. Complete your bracket and enter the contest before 5 p.m. on March 10! We recommend you research your selections before submission—there are lots of cool and unusual animals to research! Players then earn points for their bracket wins, and everyone can earn extra points by engaging with the AACC Environmental Center’s social media!
Bracket selection will be open from Feb. 21 to March 9 and battles start March 10. Any bracket submitted before March 10 will be eligible to win! Battles will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays each week. You’re welcome to follow along in real time as they’re announced at 8 p.m. on Bluesky! All players will receive an email the following morning with the battle results so they can keep score (we’re keeping score too, don’t worry!). The final battle of the tournament is on April 2, after which we’ll tally final scores. First place through tenth place will all win prizes!
